WHAT TO EXPECT

What is lifestyle photography?

It’s not about perfect poses or everyone looking at the camera at the same time. Lifestyle photography captures who your family actually is — the interactions, the in-between moments, the love that’s just quietly there in the background of ordinary life.

Our session will be relaxed, unhurried, and set somewhere that feels meaningful to you. I’ll guide you gently, but mostly I’ll just let you be yourselves — and photograph what unfolds.

What should we wear?

Wear what feels like you — comfortable, relaxed, and true to your family’s style. Neutral and muted tones tend to photograph beautifully and let your faces and connection take centre stage rather than your outfits. Coordinate loosely rather than matching exactly — real families don’t match, and that’s a good thing.

Most importantly, wear something you can actually move in. We’re not standing still.

What should we expect during our session?

Honestly? Just show up and be together. I’ll guide you through everything — you won’t be left wondering what to do or where to look. Some moments I’ll direct, others I’ll simply observe and let unfold naturally.

Don’t worry about performing for the camera. The best images almost always happen in between the posed ones, and I’ll be ready for them.

What should we bring?

Water and snacks are your best friends — I fully endorse strategic snack deployment with young children. An extra outfit for little ones is always a good idea, because things get messy and that’s completely fine.

Everything else I’ll take care of.

What if my family does not cooperate?

They won’t — at least not the whole time — and that’s completely fine. Some of my favourite images come from the chaotic, unscripted moments that parents spend the whole session apologising for.

I start with the kids, letting them lead and warm up at their own pace. Tears, tantrums, silliness — it all has a place. The families who let go of trying to control the session always end up with the most honest, beautiful images.
